A Tale of Two Cities

Because of the position/friendship/awesomeness I hold, I had the opportunity to travel down to Atlanta for the Men’s Final Four.  Although Atlanta is the home of Sweetwater Brewing, I’ve done my fair share of brewery tours so immediately started researching the area to find some good beer bars.  Although my schedule was pretty hectic with [...]

Game – The Review

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve eaten my fair share of critters in my day.  Some had fur, some feathers, scales, you name it, and chances are I’ve had the opportunity to eat something odd during my days in Central Illinois.  One of our local bars, The Rocket Tap (also headquarters for our [...]

Close Only Counts…

The line typically ends in horseshoes and hand grenades. Horseshoes, local to Kentucky, can typically be found in lots of places in the Bluegrass State. Muscle-bound horses run with them and feeble old men pitch them. Hand grenades, hopefully, are not as common in Kentucky and please god, shouldn’t be a staple among many Kentuckians. [...]

Slamming the Gateway Door

It was the winter of 2006. A Friday, we’ll go ahead and assume. I had trekked all the way from my graduate school shack near Iroquois Park to Whole Foods, because at the time, it was the only place I knew of to get fancy beer. I still considered myself a beer virgin at the [...]

I Am Not Thankful For…

Since the start of November, my Facebook newsfeed has been inundated with statuses regarding what people are thankful for.  Secretly, I mock most of them. On the other hand, these acquaintances just give me another reason to click a multitude of random buttons to exile them from appearing on my newsfeed.  When thinking about what to write, [...]

Mmmmm…Stouts.

Well now that the dust has finally settled down from Louisville Craft Beer Week (and my bank account and sleeping habits are back in check) it’s time to actually write something again.  Let me personally thank LouisvilleBeer.com, the local brewers, local establishments, and the beer community as a whole on a very successful LCBW.   [...]

Not Pumped about Pumpkins?

I’ve read many beer blog/website posts in the past few weeks ripping on the early release of fall seasonal beers.  Within the last week, stores have become overrun with the likes of Oktoberfest’s and Pumpkin beers gaining shelf space over those summer ales….and I say it’s about damn time! I dislike summer-themed beers about [...]

Finally, a new beer bar on my side of Bardstown Road!  Tucked right next to Cumberland Brews in the old Fleur De Lis Café building sits the newest craft beer slingers to Louisville’s ever-growing portfolio, River City Drafthouse. Boasting over 20 taps specializing in independent, American, craft beer and several more available in bottles, this new establishment [...]
