LouisvilleBeer.com launched on August 1, 2011 and has already become the website that people rely on for coverage of beer events, videos, reviews, news and education on craft beer. We have had over 16,000 unique visitors to the site since we launched. LouisvilleBeer.com currently has 4 contributing writers: Roger Baylor (New Albanian Brewing Company owner), John King (hardcore beer geek/blogger), Cresant Smith (self-described “Beer Nerd”), and Paul Young (My Old Kentucky Homebrew owner, Beer Judge Certification Program member). John Wurth is the main writer/designer/photographer/videographer behind the site.

STATS/DEMOGRAPHICS

New vs. Returning visitors since day one

Our visitors like good beer, and are willing to spend more money on a product that has been crafted with love and not mass-produced by machines (or robots). According to our Facebook insights, the majority of our Facebook visitors are 63% Male and the majority of them are aged 25-44. Without knowing the exact statistics, I imagine our website viewers are approximately the same. As of June 18, 2012, our Facebook page has over 700 “Likes” with a Weekly Total Reach of 4,069. People are talking about what we’re doing here. You need to get in front of them too.

LouisvilleBeer.com has a strong presence on Twitter and Facebook also. We put a link to every article/review/video/interview we publish on both social networks, which means our fans have to click through to our website in order to view the content on LouisvilleBeer.com (and see your ad!). We use our leverage on these social networks to also push our sponsors’ events/specials/beers as much as we can without bombarding our fans. There’s a fine line.

 WHAT WE COVER

LouisvilleBeer.com broke the news that Jeremy Hunt (of Dogfish Head) was coming to work at BBC St. Matthews. We were the first on the scene when Falls City’s brewing equipment arrived. We covered the collaboration brews between Local Option (Chicago) and Cumberland (and Against the Grain). Our video of Apocalypse BrewWorks was the first time most people knew what was in store in the little nook off Mellwood Avenue (and the video has had over 1,400 views). We have our finger on the pulse, and people are seeking this information out as the craft beer scene continues to grow here in Louisville. We like to get behind the scenes and show people the love that goes into the great beer we have here in Kentucky. We have had several stories picked up by BeerPulse.com (The World’s #1 Daily Beer News Website).
